After the explanation of the key (academic) writing concepts in context of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and the concept of (language) “Mediation” (from the 2018 CEFR Companion volume, a download from the Internet is recommended) the workshop gives participants the opportunity to mediate concepts themselves or (in another group) to evaluate texts from students in order to familiarize teachers with mediation strategies.

I am Full Professor and Chair of the all-EMI Global Liberal Studies Major within the School of Global Studies. I hold a PhD from North-West University, South Africa. I am Editor in Chief of the Routledge journal Asian Englishes, and on the Int'l Editorial Board of the Routledge Advances in Teaching English as an International Language book series. My main research interests are in applying world Englishes, EIL and English as a Lingua Franca concepts to higher education curriculum.
