Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you were a silent or non-majority participant in your school, in meetings, or other professional communities? In this presentation, we will look at approaches to leadership drawing from examples in executive presence (EP), collaborative leadership (CL), and others. Navigating our positions as women in Japanese work environments will be highlighted as we explore new leadership paths together.

Presentation Assets

In this video, Kathleen Brown provides a short introduction to "Foreign Female English Teachers in Japanese Higher Education: Narratives From Our Quarter" (Nagatomo, Brown & Cook (eds.), 2020), and introduces several JALT2020 presentations by authors included in that volume, including this presentation, "Leadership Skills for Women Educators: Your Voice." This video is actually a series of clips from Dr. Brown's much longer introduction to this book during a Fukuoka JALT panel discussion on October 31, 2020.
