This presentation will report on the findings of an action research project investigating if Project-Based-Learning (PBL) activities and materials adopted from autonomous, competent and relatedness-supportive teaching strategies have positive effects on students' intrinsic motivation in General English classes in Cambodia. By employing these techniques, the presenter could design more effective PBL activities and materials integrated into English classrooms. Attendees will learn how these strategies can be adapted to their teaching to develop students' intrinsic motivation.

PIN Chanleap is a lead teacher at the Australian Centre for Education. She has had more than eight years of working experience in teaching English, as well as, educational leadership and management in different organizations ranging from private schools including Australian Centre for Education to an international NGO, Cambodian Children’s Fund. She has been involved in contributing to designing skill development training manuals for youth and educators. Her areas of professional and research interest include staff motivation and commitment, as well as, learner and teacher autonomy.
