Cara Phillips
Toyo University
You may know me from Toyo Daigaku, Temple University Japan, Toyo Gakuen Daigaku, Kwansei Gakuin Daigaku or one of the other many places I have taught. I have been in Japan for 16 years, but I am originally from the U.S. (Colorado, Texas and Virginia). I got my master's in English (TEFL/TEFL) at Colorado State University in 2004 via the soon-to-be-extinct Peace Corps Master's International program. My research interests are a bunch of acronyms (TELL, CALL, MALL, CBI, CLIL, etc.). ;) I look forward to seeing you on zoom this weekend!

Using Harvard PON in a Business Negotiation Course
This is a study on content-based instruction (CBI) and the use of the Harvard Law School: Program on Negotiation (PON) in a business negotiation course for intermediate to advanced English learners. The students were surveyed at the end of the course about different aspects of the PON’s simulations: enjoyability, usefulness, and level of difficulty. Participants’ views yielded mainly positive results, and the details in the students’ answers and comments provide valuable insight into CBI.
