This meeting introduces the development of a proposed JALT Listening SIG. The session will introduce the group members and outline the proposed aims, communication networks, quarterly newsletter, and three annual events. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and share your intent to participate once the motion for the JALT Listening SIG is officially submitted in February 2021.

Naheen Madarbakus-Ring is a lecturer at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business in Japan. She has taught in South Korea, the UK and New Zealand. Naheen is also currently a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics at Victoria University of Wellington (NZ). Her research areas include listening strategies, curriculum design, and material development.

His areas of interest are ESP in non-university settings, Vocabulary acquisition, and corpus linguistics. His current research investigates technical vocabulary in spoken rugby discourse.
