This session will introduce the successful approach towards peer mentoring that English teaching colleagues in RMIT Vietnam use to support, motivate, and encourage each other. The establishment of this program has resulted in a marked improvement in mentoring and has ensured a community of continual improvement and professional development. Attendees will gain an understanding of how to establish their own peer mentoring program to encourage reciprocal professional development.

James is a Senior Educator and Professional Learning Specialist in the School of English and University Pathways (SEUP) at RMIT Vietnam. In addition to teaching Academic English, he is responsible for inducting all new teachers and for ensuring they are well supported by a mentor. He holds a Masters of Applied Linguistics and a Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring the completion of which sparked an interest in effective mentoring practices. He has been living and working in Asia for nearly 10 years including 4 years in South Korea and 6 in Vietnam.
