In this presentation, we will look at LearnSmart Achieve (LSA), an adaptive learning program aligned with the New Interactions series. LSA is a skills-based program for Academic English. We will examine its practical applications by looking at how it can be used to complement ongoing English language courses in face-to-face and remote learning situations.

Digital Tools for Kindergarten and Young Learners for Remote and Classroom Teaching – MidiEnglish, MidiPhonics and Moo-O #891

As more schools turn to remote learning, the need for digital products for all ages increases. In this presentation, we will look at three tools that can be used effectively for face-to-face and remote teaching to very young learners. MidiEnglish is a blended holistic tool for learning English that is based around the idea that learning should be fun and meaningful for learners. It includes music, games and physical activities that students can do in groups or individually. We have recently updated it to include remote capabilities that allows students to interact with the program even from home. MidiPhonics is an extension of the Midi family that focuses on phonics. Moo-O is an interactive story-telling program in which learners can join the story to act out the parts.

Teaching mixed-ability classes is a common challenge for most teachers. They face with differences among students in terms of their ability, rate of learning, language proficiency, and literacy skills. When the different learning needs aren’t met or supported, students can easily lack motivation and their learning can significantly suffer. This presentation will show how each individual student can work at the appropriate level and move ahead at his or her own pace improving reading proficiency using SRA Reading Laboratory. SRA Reading Laboratory is a research-based program that provides individualized skills instruction, permits independent work, and promotes students’ sense of responsibility. Reading Laboratory is best used as a supplemental reading practice and differentiation program.
